good read. You should post this on reddit.com somewhere - Its a very good article, and the only one of its kind. You sir, have layed something on paper that is very unique, here. Be proud. Sure it might be obvious, but not all. You pointed out some good things. Makes me think. Kudos. And you mentioned Toriko, which recently replaced Dragonball Kai in Japan - So your obviously up to date on your information. Good work.

The sunrise catching all the colors of the mesas in the desert regions of Red Dead Redemption capture all the childlike enthusiasm of a western myth printed on school lunchboxes.
The Rockstar team have really distilled all the essence out of the many western films and novels into something of an experience worth appreciating!

I enjoyed your post Yooniepie,
Thanks!

Great article on a fascinating subject. I write about this in The Dao of Dragon Ball book while talking about shonen heroes and superheroes. I dedicate an entire chapter (over 20 pages) to the similarities and contrasts between Goku and Superman, including how their histories follow biblical and legendary frameworks. This article is succinct and to the point. Good job! I wish there were more like this out there.

This sounds like the (fictional) "New Model Army".

A good book to investigate is "Small Giants", where the driving force was not growth and profit, but good service and employee satisfaction.

I just watched the new movie THE THING and the original THE THING back to back - this is a great way to see the 2 side by side. Immediately I noticed how well the practical stuff stood the test of time - I was still blown away and had no idea how they did some of the FXs. Seeing something well done (in rubber) run across the floor looks amazing because you can tell it's really there. My favorite use for cg fx is the subtle. Not crazy alien from another planet - because none of us have seen one - so it'll always look fake. But a bridge collapsing, wound damage, that kind of stuff is great. (Take note Michael Bay)
